Esther Combs

Combs, Esther Brown, age 85, of Middletown, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Arlington Pointe Nursing Home. She was born September 25, 1932 in Wolfe County, Kentucky, the daughter of Wesley and Laura Brown and lived in this area most of her life. Esther was a homemaker and attended the Christian Enterprise Baptist Church. She enjoyed life, cooking, working in her gardens and flowers, sewing, going to garage sales and always had her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her heart. She leaves to cherish in her memory three daughters, Linda Caudill of The Villages, Florida, Carolyn Durham and Leslie Adams of Middletown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Trisha (Katie Shannon) Lay of Beltsville, Maryland, Mindy Durham, Amber Adams and Travis Adams of Middletown, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; Sierra Durham, Adrian Shaw, Memphis Adams, Layla and Nolan Hoffman, Eleanor and Lawson Shannon-Lay; three sisters, Faye Wells of Middletown, Ohio and Opal (Wayne) Abrams of Richmond, Kentucky and Gretha (Frank) Collins in Berea, Kentucky; one brother, Billy Jo “Charles” Brown of Trenton, Ohio; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Combs, her brothers, Cecil, Donnie, Douglas and Lowell Brown; her sisters Dorothy McCandless, Norma Lykins, Sue Barnett and Irene Ratliff; her son-in-laws, Bill Lay and Steve Caudill and her parents. We would like to thank the nurses and aides at Arlington Pointe for all their care and concern. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parrramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue, Middletown, OH 45005. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the funeral home with Rev. James Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Poastown, Ohio.
