Keith Wayne Rider, age 72, passed away the afternoon of January 15, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born to Paul Leo and Shirley Leone Rider on June 16, 1949 in Watertown, South Dakota. Keith was raised on a family farm in Ortley, South Dakota until the age of five when the Rider family relocated to Wichita, Kansas. He was a graduate of South High School (Wichita, KS) and went on to attend Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston where he met Cleta, the love of his life. Keith was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked as an insurance agent at Prudential until his retirement and attended Breiel Blvd Church of God located in Middletown, Ohio where he sang in the choir. Keith enjoyed a good bowl of popcorn, playing spades online, watching his birds, and supporting the Wichita State Shockers. He loved to be outdoors, where he could fish, garden, and work on his lawn. Keith adored his family and loved being a “Pappaw”. He would tell his grandchildren lively stories about his childhood and enjoyed singing to them at the top of his lungs. Keith worked hard to capture and share memories with his family, maintained large online albums of photographs, and even wrote an entire book about the history of his family. These are memories that will be treasured for years to come. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cleta Rider; children Mark Rider, Jeremy (Erika) Rider, Kelly (Nathan) Parliament; grandchildren Bella Virtue, Mason Rider, Gideon Rider, Benjamin Parliament, Leo Parliament; mother Shirley (Brink) Rider and sister Cathy (Paul) Lavender. Keith was preceded in death by his father, Paul Rider and brother Douglas Rider. A memorial service will take place at Hope Community Church, 1831 E. 21st Street, Andover, KS on January 29th at 1pm.
