Obituary

LAWSON, Zella B. 83, moved from this earth to her heavenly home on May 15th in Middletown, OH. Zella was born on March 7, 1935, in Crab Orchard, KY the daughter of Henry and Ollie (Cupp) Ellison. On February 18, 1955, she married Rev. Gordon L. Lawson of Middletown, OH and they were happily married for 62 years. Zella and Gordon met while Gordon was evangelizing at the Happy Jack Church in Brindle Ridge, KY. After their nuptials, they evangelized in Ohio and Kentucky, before pioneering an Assemblies of God Church in Wilmington, OH. Zella was employed at Gardener’s Paper Mill, Bobbie Brooks, Sealy Mattress and the Atrium Medical Center, of Middletown, OH. Together they planted Grace Pentecostal Assembly in 1968, after attending the Full Gospel Tabernacle for many years. Zella retired from the Atrium Medical Center after 20 years of impeccable service and 52 years of gainful employment. Caring for others was Zella’s life passion. She continued to care and serve others until her physical condition prohibited it. Zella is survived by sons, Jonathan (Patrice) Lawson of Yorkville, IL, Mark (Heidi) Lawson of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Olivia Lawson of Tampa, FL, David Lawson of Yorkville, IL, and Holly Lawson of Middletown, OH; five sisters, Opal Leece, of Mesa, AZ, Verlyan (Kenneth) Ramsey, of Winchester, KY, Jean (Richard) Fuson, of Middletown, OH, Ruby (Dallas) Brock, of Crab Orchard, KY, and Saundra Gisler, of Mount Vernon, KY; two brothers, Darrell (Wanda) Ellison of Brodhead, KY and Glen (Marsha) Ellison, of Crab Orchard, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters, Maggie and Elsie Ellison, Reba Short, Hester Leece, Esteline Noe, Lelia Durham; four brothers, Joe, Herman, Henry (Junior), and Bobby Ellison. Visitation will be held at the Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue, Middletown, OH 45005 on Friday, May 25th between the hours of 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the Stratford Heights Church of God, located at 4419 Nelson Road, Middletown, OH 45042 on Saturday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stratford Heights Church of God.
